Growing Roses No Matter Where You Live

at

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to go to a rose care class at one of the local Armstrong Garden Centers. These stores are only in California and are known for offering free one hour classes on certain Saturdays throughout the year. I took a bunch of notes during the class and today want to share with you what I learned about growing roses.

Making Your Small Garden Look Bigger

at

Happy Sunday! Here is my next collaborative post! I hope you find ideas on making your small garden look bigger below!

Gardens are fantastic. Anyone that’s ever lived in a flat or an apartment will know more than anyone how much you can miss having your own outdoor space. Your garden is your own little bit of nature. A place where you can relax and unwind, enjoy some vitamin D, exercise and dry your washing. Is there anything better than the fresh smell of sheets that have been left to dry outside?

My very first collaborative post is about making your small garden flourish! If some of the wording sounds little different, its because this post comes from the UK.

Enjoy!

How to Take Great Pictures of Your Garden-Flower and Garden Photos

at

I’ve gotten several compliments about how great my photos are here on my gardening blog. I appreciate the comments but many of the photos are not my own, but from commercial free sites like Pixabay. I’m wanting to learn to take more and better flower and garden photos and thought I would share my thoughts on how to achieve this.

As a side note, all the pictures on this particular blog are from me and my husband.

No Birdfeeder Needed-How to Attract Hummingbirds

How to Attract Hummingbirds

When I had a larger porch, I had several bird feeders to attract hummingbirds and other birds. I could buy feeders now, but accidentally and delightfully discovered that some of my plants attract hummingbirds. I even took a gardening class on how to attract hummingbirds by selecting specific plants they like to feed on.

Since I’m all about saving money, I have added some plants to my garden to attract these beautiful birds to my balcony. I love the fact that I can bring in hummingbirds and other wildlife just by the plants I choose to grow.  Keep on reading!

Lavender-More Than Just a Great Aroma

I absolutely love the smell of lavender. I love lavender even more because of the many benefits it has as a medicine. Lavender medicinal uses have been around for centuries.

I had the opportunity to go to a lavender festival with my husband this weekend. I learned many new things about lavender that had little to do with its pleasant smell. I would like to share with you what I discovered about the medicinal uses of lavender.  Keep on reading!
